Tehran film festival’s grand prix goes to Polish ‘Evil Deeds’

The 34th Tehran Int’l Short Film Festival presents its grand prix to Polish ‘Evil Deeds’.

Latest edition of the Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF) has presented its grand prix to ‘Evil Deeds’ by Piotr Domalewski from Poland.

The 34th TISFF wrapped up on Sunday during a closing ceremony at Tehran’s Art Bureau where the winners of various sections received their awards.

Domalewski’s film is about Max, a ten-year-old son of a hospital cleaner who has been caught trying to steal a patient’s wallet.

The elderly pensioner decides not to report the theft, and instead asks Max to complete three tasks, which are more challenging than Max would ever have expected.

The best fiction film award of the TISFF went to ‘Andro’ directed by Tornike Gogrichiani from Georgia and ‘Whole to Part’ directed by Seyyed-Vahid Hosseini from Iran grabbed the best experimental film award.

The best documentary went to ‘Friday Carpet’ directed by Mehdi Asadi from Iran and ‘The Never-ending Wall’ directed by Silvia Carpizo from Spain won the best animation award.

‘Animal’ by Bahram and Bahman Ark received the best film award and the audience award in the Iranian film competition.

The Ark siblings shared the best director award with Arman Khansarian for his film ‘Elephant’s Shadow’.

The event included two competitive sections for the national and international levels as well as an out of competition strand.

Organized by Iranian Youth cinema Society, affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and a member of International Short Film Conference, the festival is aimed to provide an opportunity for young filmmakers to exchange their experiences.

The 34th edition of the TISFF was directed by Seyyed-Sadeq Mousavi on October 17-22 in the Iranian capital city.
